Stability During Difficult Times
Donation protected
So this last weekend (March 10th) my friend, Will, and his husband, Brian, were told that Will has lung cancer. And not only does he have lung cancer, but the oncologist they're talking to feels that while his cancer is treatable, there is no cure and have set his life expectancy at months or years. He is now seeking out any additional resources to fight for his life, but he needs help. They need help paying for their bills when Will takes time off of work for treatment, they need help getting a vehicle to reliably get to his appointments, they need help paying for travel expenses, and while donations can't cure him, they can let him focus on healing without worrying about how he's going to be able to pay for his necessities while he's supposed to be focused on healing.
If you're reading this and don't already know Will - let me tell you a little about him:
One of my dearest memories of our friendship is dancing to We Are Family at the wedding of a mutual best friend shortly after we had both come out in the late 90's.
I've known Will since high school and he's always been more likely to lighten the mood or make a joke than to take anything too seriously. He was in ROTC in high school and I was always amused to watch him go from super professional in his uniform to relaxing back to his silly self.
The last few years have been tough on Will and Brian. In November 2017, Will was diagnosed with anal cancer. He began 6 weeks of chemo and radiation treatments in December and thought he had beat it. In late April 2018, he found out that his anal cancer had returned and followed his doctor's recommendation to have a colostomy bag for the remainder of his life. The thought was that while it would be inconvenient, he would be alive. The missed work from radiation, chemo, surgery, and the days where he was recovering caused his family to fall behind on their rent, car payment, and general family bills. They lost both their home and their vehicle. Now nearly a year later, they are still recovering from the financial impact of cancer, then what they thought was initially pneumonia turned into the above diagnosis; that his anal cancer had come back, this time as lung cancer.
Will has a beautiful love filled family that only shines brighter because of their current struggles. Brian and Will are absolutely the love of each other's lives and were married in 2015. They have two adopted fur babies. Brian recently graduated as an EMT and Will continues to work in tech support. They both have great faith in getting through all things together, but any assistance anyone can provide would greatly support them in giving Will the emotional space he needs to focus on healing and Brian the space to focus on supporting Will.
To summarize, they need:
Money for household expenses and bills
Money for or a donation of a reliable vehicle
Love and prayers
