Stacey Hamil Memorial Fund

Donation protected
The Stacey Hamil Memorial Fund was created in order to assist Stacey's family with all of her medical bills, funeral costs, children's expenses, and future expenses the family may incur.

Anyone that knows or knew Stacey knows that she is as stubborn as a bull. She is fiery competitive, fearless, passionate, loyal, loving, 100 percent committed to everything she does, and one of the most giving people I know.

Stacey had a heart of gold and a passion for everything she invested in, one of those things was coaching volleyball.  Stacey coached for Texas Tornados for nearly 20 years. She started in the 15's age group but quickly settled into the 12's age group. What a special gift she was for all of those players starting on their volleyball journeys. Stacey instilled her passion and love of the sport into hundreds of players over her coaching career.  She motivated, inspired, and influenced many young player's volleyball careers.

Stacey had the gift of being able to fuss at you while still smiling. You could feel her love as she pushed you to be the best version of yourself, so she got the most out of all of her players. Coaching was a huge part of Stacey's identity. However, the most important part was her family. She was one proud daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and mother, and she lit up like a Christmas tree when she spoke about her husband and three kids. She absolutely loved watching her girls, Janna and Bryce, dance, and Ty play baseball when he was younger.

Last February, when we learned of her cancer diagnosis we all believed Stacey's strength, bullheadedness, and optimistic outlook would allow her to beat cancer, the same way she had strategically won matches against opponents she should not have beaten on paper. Every time we spoke over the past few months, she sounded great and was so excited to get back to coaching after Covid was over.

We were all in shock when we heard the news that she had earned her wings on Christmas Eve.  We all thought she was invincible because she had such a positive and optimistic attitude.  When you are hurting it is easy to question why and focus on the grief, frustration, sadness, and pain of losing someone. However, I had to remind myself that this is not what my friend would want for me or anyone else. I had to remind myself that life doesn't always work out like we plan because it is not our plan.

What I do know is that Stacey would not want any of us crying or fussing over her. She would want us to live our best lives and for us to know that God has a purpose for our pain, a reason for our struggles, and a reward for our faithfulness.
This should also remind us that life is short, and tomorrow is never promised, and that bad things happen to good people.  Remember to live your life to the fullest, and go after what you want. Celebrate birthdays, holidays, and small victories in life, and do not dwell on what we don't have or didn't get. Don't waste time or energy on being angry or bitter. Spend your time serving others and leave your own legacy behind.  We cannot choose the time we are blessed to have, but we can choose how we spend it.

Stacey's body may have left this earth, but her heart, spirit, and legacy will live on through all that were touched by her goodness. A piece of her will remain in ALL of us who were lucky enough to know her, to be coached by her, or to be loved by her.

I would love to see Stacey's supporters rally around her family to show our love and support. Please pray for healing and answers during this difficult time.

Thank you to all those that contributed to Stacey's first fundraising campaign, in order to help with her treatments last February.  Many of you have asked how you can help the family.  Please consider contributing to her Memorial fund in order to take some of the financial burdens off of the family.  If not, then please lift this family up and keep them in your hearts and prayers.  Share memories and pictures and keep her spirit alive.  Texas Tornados will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Sunday (January 3rd) at 2:30 if you would like to come and pay your respects.  Please wear a mask.
