Help Stacey Finish Her Dystonia Treatment
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
As many of you would know, my sister Stacey is currently in South Korea receiving treatment from Dr Young Jun Lee http://www.fcstnet.com/dr-youngjun-lee/ to help cure her from Dystonia.
Dystonia is a movement disorder in which a person's muscles contract uncontrollably. The contraction causes the affected body part to twist involuntarily, resulting in repetitive movements or abnormal postures.
For Stace, this mostly affects her neck, mouth and hands.
Before she left for treatment it had gotten to the point that Stacey could no longer drive due to the pain that she had from trying to constantly hold her head up (due to the Dystonia in her neck).
It also causes her to have difficulty swallowing and eating and she gets the shakes in her hands which of course, as you can imagine has an impact on everyday things such as drinking from a cup (a straw is usually needed for this, metal and reusable of course!)
The good news is that Dr Lee is a miracle worker and we are seeing amazing results after Stacey only being there for 2 weeks! (We'll be posting updates, pics and videos so you can see for yourself, but she's already much straighter and doesn't need to hold her head up with her hand anymore :D )
Dr Lee is hoping that Stace will only need 2 months worth of treatment for her to be as good as cured!
The not so great news is that Stacey was only planning on being in South Korea for a month at first, come back home to work and save more money and then head back over when she had the funds to finish her treatment.
With the COVID-19 crisis, all flights have been cancelled back to Australia and we're unsure when Stace will be able to come home at this point, so we're trying to see the silver lining and figure while she's there she may as well be finishing up her treatment!
But we need your help.
As you can imagine, the treatment is not cheap ( over $16,000) and Stacey's travel and private health insurance doesn't cover any of this. She's also currently on leave without pay, still has bills to pay at home and has to pay for accommodation and living expenses while she's in South Korea.
We know these are trying times we're living in, but anything you can spare would be so greatly appreciated. This treatment is absolutely life changing for Stacey and it would mean the world if she could continue treatment while she has to stay in South Korea.
Thank you so much!!!
Renee
