Stacey's Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
My name is Stacey. I am the mother of two adult children, a son and a daughter. I love animals and travel, and I am a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan.
I was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) about 15 years ago.
I am currently at stage 5 kidney disease. There is no cure for end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The treatment options are limited to dialysis or a kidney transplant. Both of which are very expensive.
I have chosen to do Peritoneal Dialysis (PD). This treatment is done every night at home (8 to 10 hours) while I sleep. The cost for PD is $255 per day. This does not include clinic and nephrologist appointments, medication, supplies, and blood labs.
Should I be lucky enough to one day receive a new kidney, I will have to pay for the transplant surgery and hospital stay. I will then have to pay for expensive immunosuppressive drugs for the rest of my life to avoid organ rejection.
One of my kidney care teams suggested that I do fundraising to help with these ongoing medical expenses. If my story speaks to you, and you can donate, I will be forever grateful. Anything will help. Please also help me by sharing my story with everyone you know.
I am also searching for a live kidney donor. If donating a kidney to me is something you would like to consider, please call 1.720.848.0000. Or, register to be a living donor at https://www.uchealth.org Live Kidney donors can remain anonymous.
Give the ultimate gift of life. Consider being an organ donor after death.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
