Stack's Mission Trip to Costa Rica
Donation protected
Bella has her first opportunity to go on a mission trip overseas to Costa Rica and her dad, David Stack, will be accompanying her. They are going with a group of 16 total, from Lighthouse Community Church. They will be leaving the Friday before Thanksgiving and coming back the Sunday after Thanksgiving of 2016 (so it is literally right around the corner).
They will be staying in a house which has been donated to a missionary down there just for this purpose, to house those who come to do God’s work. This will allow for the trip to be more cost efficient as they mainly need to pay for their airfare and extra budgetary needs. Both Stacks, father and daughter, and beyond excited and we are inviting you to be part of this trip with them. While God’s blessings have made the trip possible, it is still quite a budget crunbcher and so we are humbly asking for help (this would make an amazing early Christmas gift/birthday gift).
The group will be working directly in some schools where missionaries are welcome to come in and teach academic lessons and teach about Jesus within their lessons. Unlike here in the states, they can actually ask the children if any of them would like to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior right then and there and then go and play with them at recess. Other parts of the group will go into the villages and help to do handyman work such as lay floors under houses which fall prey to the flooding every year.
We must also be honest that the trip will also have some non-missionary work focus as after the group has worked within the community for a few days, they will be able to take a tour of the rainforest and explore the beaches. Bella is especially excited to go zip-lining through the jungle (although I told her that I don’t want to know anything about that until it’s over).
We have known for many years that Bella has been given a heart for missionary work and it has been our great honor to come alongside her to help her in any way we can. We first noticed this passion back when her cousin Kelly Rorden was raising funds to go to Africa with our great friend Pastor Egypt, about 5 years ago or so. They were taking over life straws to be used as filters so that people could drink from any water source safely. Our Bella was so moved by this that she not only followed along with Kelly devotedly, but she actually asked if she could hide in her suitcase and begged to go. At that moment we knew that we were in trouble and Egypt promised to take her to Africa someday.
Another missionary opportunity came up just a little bit later and this time Bella got fully involved. Again with Egypt, we began to take donations as a church to fill backpacks for people in need which would be given out to people on skid-row. Bella saw an opportunity to not only go but to truly get involved and she used her birthday that year to raise funds so that she could buy the last minute things which hadn’t been donated. I will never forget how proud she was to go and buy tons of cases of water and socks and female toiletries. She even budgeted it all out to get the most bang for her buck.
Her greatest missionary work thus far has been in Mexico and she proudly accepts the title as the one person at our church who has gone on every missionary trip to Tijuana to work with Pastor Cuco and his men’s rehabilitation center (although I don’t think she is the only one, but Jill gave her that honor so she will take it). She has helped to build houses, painted hundreds of faces, and shared her testimony with men who desperately needed to feel forgiveness and hope. She has literally helped to show God’s light, ultimately teaching about God’s love to over a thousand people when you add up all of her trips and now she is excited to get to go and do it in Costa Rica.
Thanks for reading and if finances are tight (which we understand they always are), then we ask if you could give the greatest gift of all and pray for their safety and for God to use them to bring him glory. God Bless!!!
