The Cinderella Story, 2020

We have all heard the story of Cinderella and remember the happy ending, the triumph of good over evil, kindness over jealousness and vindictiveness...the evil stepsister story.

Stacy’s story doesn’t quite have that ending.  As you know, Stacy’s stepfather, Henry Holley, Esq., died on December 23rd, 2020, having spent the last year and a half under the direct care of his biological daughter and virtually sealed off from the outside world,  in particular his son, Henry Holley. Young Henry is a special guy, born 53 years ago with Downs Syndrome, and to all that know him, the smile and hello from little Henry can light up a room.  His half-sister, Stacy Case is his legal guardian and is his direct care giver for many years.

For those that know Henry, Esq., the love of and for his son was undeniable, prior to the death of his wife, Sherrill Holley in April 2019.  At the time of Sherrill’s death, the relationship between Henry Esq. and his son was all but severed by his daughter of his previous marriage.  Stacy and young Henry have been left to scramble for resources sufficient to care for their daily needs since that time. Young Henry is now 53 and with Downs Syndrome, has lived longer than many, largely due to the loving care of his mother, father and most recently Stacy. He was patterned at an early age by a loving community, resulting in his function ability being active, vivid and engaging, albeit constant and intensely focused.  Commitment to young Henry’s wellbeing was always a cornerstone of the relationship between Henry Esq. and Sherrill, his wife of 54 years.

What now seems unbelievable, Henry’s biological daughter has laid claim to the entire Holley estate and seven figure fortune, leaving those of us who have known this family for years, to believe that there were no resources left to care for young Henry.  Henry’s Half Sister, Stacy Case, is his sole legal guardian now that Henry Esq. is deceased (they previously shared joint guardianship). Henry Holley, esteemed attorney in the Port Jervis and Orange County communities would NOT have left insufficient resources for his son. He would not have done that to his son, and he would not have done that to the memory of his wife.  Further, the integrity this man posesed, administering and executing Estates of Clients for years, had the moral compass to counsel and inform decisions so important to family stability in times such as these.

Today, in the short week since Henry Esq. death, heat had been shut off (now restored, presumably by his biological daughter) in the apartment where Stacy and Henry live above the office Henry practiced in for years.  Housing, which was secure over Henry’s office is now in an unpredictable state with ownership of the building in question.  Transportation is tenuous since Stacy drives Henry Esq. car, with little Henry, for necessities of life, groceries, doctors, etc.

The community that knows and has known this family, finds this situation unbelievable, irresponsible and uncharacteristic given the relationship Henry Esq. had with his son.  Resources are needed right away for day- to day necessities, but more importantly, to secure the much-needed answers to the questions having arisen about allocation of the vast Holley fortune and  neglecting provisions for the special needs Downs Syndrome son in the care and legal guardianship of Henry Esq.’s step daughter. Stacy needs to secure reasonable housing and transportation required to adequately care for herself and her brother.  Your assistance is urgently needed and appreciated
