Hey yall,

It’s with tired and heavy spirits that we add our voice to the chorus of Western North Carolina.

We, like many businesses and families, are worried about our staff and the people that depend on them.

40+ STAFF MEMBERS

A lot of us on staff are realizing the longevity of the effects of Hurricane Helene. We feel confident we’ll reopen when it becomes an option, but we still don’t have running water.

Our first response has been immediate survival and helping those around us achieve that. In this case, the next step is ensuring our staff’s ability to maintain health, housing, and general stability. This fund will be dispersed solely among the individuals on staff, none of the funds will go towards paying for rent or repairs of these bars. That’s the mission of this fundraiser.

We do not wish to take funds away from any mutual aid efforts in WNC. If your band has played a packed show at Lazy or DC, if you've felt inspired by the passion of the bartenders at Pink Moon, if you've danced so hard at Strange Magic that your body hurt the next day, or if you've ever found a haven in any of these bars, PLEASE consider donating or sharing.

With a sense of defeat, some of us are considering leaving town and finding work elsewhere. Our hope is that this fund will provide some temporary security so that doesn't have to happen. When the time is right to gather together again, we want to be here to facilitate it. Truly, we miss you!

**We are also working and planning with the Medical Triage/ Supply Depot which the Double Crown has hosted during this crisis. (Dc_Distro). If you’ve visited or helped at Double Crown in the past 2 weeks, you’ve probably seen staff members and other familiar faces participating in this mutual aid hub. We want to make it clear, though, that this is a fund for the staff of these bars and the people that depend on them. It is entirely separate from the Dc_Distro fund, which is strictly a mutual aid for Asheville and surrounding communities. (if you'd like to donate to this fund: venmo @dc_distro)**
