Relief for Bäco Mercat, O&W, Amá, amá-cita
Donation protected
Hello, friends and family, thank you for taking the time to read this.
Update 6/1: Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our GoFundMe. You helped us pay for healthcare during a scary time.
Like many across the country, our small group of restaurants—Bäco Mercat , Orsa & Winston and Bar Amá in downtown Los Angeles, and amá•cita in Culver City—are closed due to the COVID 19 crisis. Our priority at this time is the health of our employees.
Update 6/1: If you would like to purchase a sweatshirt, please visit www.prospectpine.com. For anyone who donates $150 or more, we would like to send you a gift. Josef Centeno is not only the chef-owner of the restaurants but is also an avid natural dyer. He recently has designed his own sweatshirts of 100% organic cotton, which he dyes with natural dyes and pigments.*
Many of you—everyone from regulars to strangers—have reached out to ask how to help during the COVID 19 crisis. In the face of COVID 19, access to health insurance is more important than ever. There is much uncertainty about when or if any relief packages will be available for restaurants or whether landlords will be willing to freeze rent. We’re in uncharted waters. But we know that if we raise this money, current health insurance plans that are already in place could be extended. No matter what happens, any money raised will go directly to help employees.
In the hopes of offering support to the wonderful people (including cooks, servers, dishwashers, bartenders, managers) who have brought happy experiences to so many, we are asking for help to keep them healthy. We understand this is a difficult time for many, who might be in similar situations. If you can help by chipping in a few dollars, we would be ecstatic. If it isn’t something that’s in your budget right now, we do not want you to feel obligated at all. We hope that we’ll all see each other at any of the restaurants soon!
*We will email you to inquire about sizing and color options. Josef will be making them to order.
Thank you!
