Stafford Cidery Build

The Crazy Cock Cider idea was born several years ago, at a time when money was tight. Both of us were laid off from our full time jobs within a year of each other. We cut back on ALL of our expenses, including booze. We started tinkering with the idea of making alcohol. We briefly tried rum and a twisted tea knock off. Both were not very good. Beer seemed to require a bunch of equipment so we didn't even bother. We always liked cider and the process didn't seem too difficult. And just like that, we started playing with cider making. Batch after batch taught us new things and the flavor possibilities were endless. It was fun. And the end product was good. One night as we sat around drinking our cider in our backyard, the name hit us as we watched our flock of chickens: Crazy Cock Cider!
The plan was always to find a location that we could legally make our cider and sell it but life sometimes takes a detour. In our search for a cidery location, we happened upon the old Maple Grove building. We decided we could create an amazing craft beer bar there and put our cidery in the basement. We opened the Stafford Tavern and found out there were people just like us in Stafford looking for good music and good drinks. We made many friends and gained a large following. Unfortunately, we were not able to follow our dream of putting the cidery in the basement as the building was sold by our landlord. The Stafford Tavern closed but we looked at it as a chance to refocus on the cidery dream.
It took a full year to find a location for our cidery in Stafford. 68 Main Street came up for lease and it fit all of our desires - a large basement for manufacturing, a great main street spot for a tap room and that old building history that we love.
Now we are in the building phase. Every day consists of cleaning existing space or building new construction. We are beyond excited to be this close to having the dream come true.
We have had so much support from our friends and family to get this business going. People have loaned their knowledge, their skills, their cider tasting abilities and we appreciate them all! But we need one more push of financial support to make sure we can get all the necessary items to make the cider flow! Money raised will go towards new shiny tanks and fermentors (some of the biggest expenses) along with kegs, growlers and a new awnings!
If you are in a position to financially support us and our new, local business, we THANK YOU! If you can't donate, we understand. We've been there too!
Follow us on Facebook to see our progress and opening announcements (we can't wait to make those!) As we get closer to a grand opening, keep an eye out for an exclusive Stafford Cidery Club offer!
Thank you supporters!
