My life story in a nut shell Im a 49 year old, mother of 2 & a new grandmother. Im hard working 28year Registered Nurse forced to retire my career, suffer financial devistation, physical down spiral & difficlt emotional strain through required medical treatment for cancer. Diagnosed stage 4, grade 2 NonHodgkins Follicular Lymphoma,, Lymphnode Cancer with Bone Marrow Metastasis. When i was hit in the face with this, i found myself looking back at years of underlying signs that finally explained 20years of illnesses that neither my doctor or i had been able to understand. I love & cared for every patient & family & coworker like they are my own family, covered work for everyone, bent over backwards to take care of everything, overextended my time & pushed all my efforts to extremes,, until i was physically exhausted and became weak & sick for atleast 2 or 3 rounds of antibiotics to get well each time i was sick. I struggle with chronic anxiety & depression, panic attacks & posttraumatic nightmares with insomnia. I have witnessed traumatic accidents, performed necessary but disgusting medical procedures, watched countless people slip away in my hands while doing everything that could be done, been the first bystander on scene to 2 decapitating accidents, fought to save many drug overdoses, witnessed self inflicted gunshots in person & cleaned up the mess, and found a friend hanging after several days of not answering. Memories that can haunt you from the deepest sleep. At diagnosis i first looked my own fate in the eye. I tackled the needle biopsy, Lymphnodectomy, Catscan, PET scan, Bone marrow biopsy & surgical port placement, followed by 6months of Chemotherapy to finally be in remission. There is no cure, so we monitor labs & scans, just waiting to fight again, and pray that someday i wont go thru a bone marrow transplant or worse. I am blessed to be here & pray for years of health & happiness, and hope to watch my grandson grow up & maybe more to come! What continues to push me down is the struggle financially to cover all the medical expenses & afford insurance to help cover what will be needed in the future. I have suffered several falls, had degenerative arthritic knee arthroscopy, been through physical therapy twice & have a back & neck injury from being rearended in a car accident last year that has required 35+chiropractor visits to help with some of the pain. Im not that person that requires help or even asks for it, but i'm over $20,000 behind & just trying to see out. Anything helps & will be greatly appreciated & put to good use.
