Stage 4 Liver Transplant (Crigler-Najjar Type 2)

Donation protected

At the young age of 2 months, Brittni was diagnosed with Crigler-Najjar Type 2, a rare genetic disorder affecting the liver. Her disease was discovered at the Cleveland Ohio Clinic at Akron Children's Hospital.

Currently, while Brittni awaits her liver transplant, she has encountered other complications and undergone necessary procedures. She has had liver biopsies, ERCP surgery to remove stones from the bile duct, two surgeries to remove the gallbladder, and is on a waitlist for her transplant. Many steps are being taken to ensure she is a suitable candidate for the transplant. Brittni's disease and condition have presented numerous concerns and complications for the transplant process. Her medical team is diligently documenting her unique story and working hard to determine the best course of action for a successful transplant while ensuring her stability with her medical condition. It has been discovered that her sister Bree is a match for the transplant, which is a remarkable development.

Brittini is currently at a hospital in Tampa with a large team of medical doctors, including Dr. Jamie and Dr. Rodriguez from the liver team. Her mother has been traveling to be with her during this difficult time. As a single mother, Brittni has been facing significant financial challenges, with expenses exceeding $5,000 and ongoing costs for her stay at the hospital in Tampa. Additionally, her son James, who is in the 5th grade, has been struggling in her absence and could benefit from tutoring support.

Brittni's expenses will continue to accumulate, and a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help cover her ongoing medical and personal expenses. While financial donations are appreciated, prayers and well wishes are also welcomed and valued by Brittni and her family during this challenging time. Brittni's road to recovery will be long, and the hope is that her body will accept the transplant successfully.

Despite the difficulties she is facing, Brittni's spirits remain high, and her faith is strong. She has shown incredible resilience in the face of adversity. Messages of support and encouragement are encouraged to lift her spirits during this challenging time.

The Smallwood family, along with Brittni, is grateful for any support and prayers offered. Updates on Brittni's condition and progress will continue to be provided. The family is hopeful for positive outcomes and appreciates any assistance provided. Thank you for your support and blessings to all. Prayers are always welcomed.

Expenses are to be ongoing as we don't have a realistic amount, we will update accordingly.

With love,
The Smallwood Family
