Stained Glass for New Church, Upper Nji, Cameroon
Donation protected
I am raising money for my friend, Ed Konczeski, who is creating stained glass windows for a new church in Upper Nji, Cameroon. Ed has already crafted stained glass windows for 6 churches in Cameroon, and has raised all of the money for supplies himself.
Ed is currently undergoing immunotherapy as he fights cancer. He cannot work, and thus has no funds to continue the stained glass project. While he cannot work as a contractor, his doctors have said he may still work in his stained glass studio. Ed says meaningful work is the best therapy, and this work is meaningful!
Christian churches are rapidly popping up in Cameroon as it absorbs Christian refugees fleeing Muslim persecution in neighboring countries. Ed has generously volunteered his time and talent for several years to provide stained glass windows for some of these churches. He wishes to continue this outreach to his Christian brothers and sisters in Africa.
Ed came across a book of images of the Blessed Virgin Mary from all over the world. He was struck by how people of different countries and different cultures saw Mary. He made copies of all the images and asked the Church authorities if they would approve a complete set of stained glass windows featuring images of Mary from across the world. Well, not only did they approve, they were delighted by the idea and said they would change the name of the church to St. Mary’s in honor of the windows!
Materials cost $300 per window, and St. Mary Church will require 65. That adds up to $19,500.
Please join Ed in this mission to add beauty to the churches in Cameroon!
