Stalkfleet Family House Fire
Donation protected
In the early hours of February 14, 2020, Kelly and Jared Stalkfleet experienced an immense loss. They're house in Stevensville, MT caught fire around midnight. The fire department worked tirelessly through the night to staunch the flames, but by the time the rest of us were just waking up to start our day, their lives were changed forever. The house is a complete loss along with all their belongings, memories, and heirlooms. All the things they treasured.
Luckily, Kelly and Jared, along with their two young children and Jared's father, are all safe. They were able to get their dogs out before the flames engulfed the house, but unfortunately were not able to contain them in the chaos. A search continues in hopes of locating them. They also had several cats that were unable to escape and lost their lives in the fire.
While an estimate on the cost of their loss is not available at this early hour after such a tragedy, it is easy to predict that it'll cost tens of thousands just to piece some semblance of life back together. That estimate is very low, as it doesn't even factor in the house itself, merely it's contents. It also doesn't include the cost of living in makeshift, emergency conditions while they try to recuperate from this devastating blow.
In addition to losing everything, Kelly is struggling with limited mobility after suffering a broken leg in a fall one month ago. Jared is working primarily out of town, away from his family. Their children are 1.5 and 3 years old, with the latter suffering from an ongoing heart condition. This family needs some good fortune to smile upon them!
Look around your home. Imagine the cost of replacing the dishes, the linens, the small appliances, the furniture, all your clothes, the supplies necessary to raising small humans. Imagine losing your pets. Imagine all the heirlooms, treasures, and memories you keep tucked away in safe places; all gone. Imagine having nothing left but the clothes on your back. Some things can never be replaced, but with your help, they can start putting their lives back together.
Even if what you can afford to give seems insignificant in the face of this loss, it all adds up. No one family can recover from this alone. And no single donation can lift them up from these ashes. It'll take a community to get them back on their feet. And we are all part of that community. Give what your can, and give from your heart!
