Help a Veteran Family Stay Together During a Critical Transplant
Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,
We are reaching out for support during an incredibly challenging time for my sister and her family. My sister, a proud Army veteran, and her loyal husband, also a veteran, are now facing one of the most difficult battles of their lives—she is in urgent need of an organ transplant. While they both work tirelessly, putting in over 60 hours a week each, the burden has become overwhelming. They are exhausted. Our mama and my brother-in-law, her loving husband, need a place to stay near Swedish in Seattle to alternate being by her side.
A Bit About Their Story:
My sister joined the Army at a young age, determined to serve her country and overcome obstacles. It was during this time that she met her devoted husband, who has stood by her side for 25 years. Together, they have raised two incredible boys, both of whom are on the autism spectrum. They are a resilient family, but this medical crisis has stretched them to their limits.
Now, my sister is awaiting a life-saving organ transplant at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. She was flown from their home in Alaska last night to Swedish in Seattle early this morning, October 2nd. The process requires our mother and brother-in-law to be close to the hospital, but the expenses of travel and accommodation are beyond what they can manage alone. Although she is strong (I mean it, she's a 5'4 fiery fighter who loves our nation), the toll on her body and spirit is immense, and having her family nearby is essential for her well-being.
How You Can Help:
We are raising funds to cover the cost of temporary housing near the hospital, so her family can stay together during this critical time. With two children who need consistent care and the additional stress of medical expenses (my brother-in-law's dad will stay in Alaska with the boys), the financial burden and urgency are staggering.
Your contribution will help cover:(updated due to an opening at VA family housing
•Most importantly, to share the Love of God through people. Let’s overwhelm their hearts!
• Travel expenses for medical appointments and shifts of my mom and brother-in-law to and from the hospital
• Support for her two boys with autism while their parents focus on recovery
• Everyday necessities that have become difficult to afford
Why Your Help Matters:
My sister has given so much in service to her country, and now she needs us! We believe in miracles and in the power of community. Your donation, no matter the size, will help keep this family together and give them the strength to face what lies ahead.
I believe Americans pull together in hard times, undivided!
Thank you for being a part of their story and for helping make the impossible possible. We are praying for healing, peace, and the opportunity for my sister to return home healthy to her husband and boys.
I know Jesus will make a way where there is no way! HE is moving!
With gratitude and faith,
Stephanie (her little sister who is 5'6 who she calls shorty).
