Stand by Dana in Her Transplant Fight

Hey Everyone,

The family of Dana Runnels (Reagin) has put this GoFundMe together to help Dana, Tyler, and Brad as they navigate Dana's medical journey.

After having her gallbladder removed and double hernia surgery in Summer '24, Dana began experiencing liver-related issues that have ultimately led to her need for a liver transplant. After numerous hospital stays and visits, Dana is currently at the Cleveland Clinic hoping to get on the transplant list for a new liver. While completing her pre-transplant checklist of testing, Dana was just informed that her kidney function was not normal, and she was admitted into the ICU at the Cleveland Clinic. Here is Dana's most recent update:

"It was an emotionally draining day. Here’s what it boils down to… My case was presented to the liver transplant panel. They didn’t say no, but concluded that I need a kidney transplant as well. So now, the kidney transplant team needs to do their own workup on me. They can use most of the tests and info that my liver transplant team gathered, but they need time to review it.

They say I’ll have a good idea earlier next week if the kidney team plans to say yes or no. But, we won’t get the official rubber stamp of approval or denial until next Friday, the 14th when the kidney transplant panel meets.

Otherwise, I’m still in the ICU. Not sure when I’ll go back to a regular room. No complaints from me, though. I have my own room here, it’s quieter, I have a nice view, and nurses right outside my door for quick response.

I so appreciate your prayers and support. We didn’t get the answer we wanted today, but as Dad reminded me, God answers prayers with a “yes, no, or wait”… this answer was wait.

It’s interesting that I’m told I need a kidney transplant just 5 days into Kidney Awareness Month. The color for both kidney and liver disease awareness is green. So, please wear a little green this week and think of me."

We know Dana faces uncertain medical costs, and we are asking, if you are able and called to do so, to please consider making a donation to Dana. Funds will be used to pay medical bills, help with the cost of travel from Chattanooga/Georgia for Tyler and Brad, as well as other expenses they will incur while making the trip to support Dana away from home.
