Stand by Jason: Aid His Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Jason Shechtman is a beloved statistics tutor, colleague, and friend at Los Angeles Valley College, working tirelessly across multiple programs such as the Academic Resource Center, Services for Students with Disabilities, and the Umoja Black Scholars Program. Known for his genuine empathy and unwavering dedication, Jason consistently goes above and beyond to support students, fellow tutors, and instructors alike. His selfless contributions of time, expertise, and compassion have touched the lives of countless students. In 2022, his incredible service was recognized when he was honored with the Ally of the Year Award by the Umoja Black Scholars Program.
While always focused on helping others, Jason has also been pursuing his BS degree in psychology at CSUN, juggling his own studies while giving so much to the Valley College community. However, since the summer of 2024, Jason has faced serious health challenges, including kidney and pancreas transplants, followed by infections. Despite these hardships, Jason’s resilience shines through, as he made every effort to return to tutoring statistics students this fall. But the extent of his recovery requires more time and rest, significantly limiting his ability to work this semester.
Now, it’s our turn to support Jason. The financial strain of ongoing medical and living expenses has become overwhelming, and we, the community he has so selflessly cared for, can make a meaningful difference. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help alleviate the burden of his medical and living expenses, giving him the time he needs to heal and regain his strength.
Jason’s prognosis is positive, and we look forward to seeing him return even stronger. Let’s come together to show Jason the same compassion and generosity he has shown us. Your support will not only help with his recovery but will also reduce the financial stress during this critical time.
Thank you for standing by Jason. Together, we can help him on his road to recovery.
