Stand by Khanhi and Evelyn in Their Heartbreak
Donation protected
On February 24th, 2025, my cousin Khanhi’s world was turned upside down. Her loving husband, a devoted father, was detained by ICE during a routine annual check-in. Out of fear for his immigration case and any retaliation, Khanhi has chosen to keep his identity private, but what she cannot hide is the pain and heartbreak their family is enduring—especially their sweet one-year-old daughter, Evelyn.
Evelyn doesn’t understand why her "Dada" isn't there to tuck her in at night, share naps, play peek-a-boo, or hold her in his arms. She only knows that the person who was always by her side is suddenly missing.
Khanhi and her husband prayed for years to have a baby, and in 2023, they were finally blessed with Evelyn. Her dad embraced fatherhood with everything he had, becoming the ultimate “Girl Dad.” He worked nights and weekends so he could spend the days caring for her while Khanhi worked. He was there for every milestone, every giggle, every scraped knee—until now.
Khanhi and Evelyn have been able to visit him, but Evelyn doesn’t understand why she can’t run into his arms. Why she can’t be held. Why the man who once cuddled her to sleep can no longer hold her. Each visit breaks their hearts. While phone and video calls help them stay connected, every minute costs $0.25—something that quickly adds up when all a little girl wants is to hear her dada's voice.
How You Can Help
Now, as a single mother overnight, Khanhi is facing an unimaginable challenge. With only one income, she must cover all the household expenses while also ensuring she and Evelyn can stay connected to the man they love. Your donation will help cover childcare, everyday necessities, and their ability to communicate with Evelyn’s dad, bringing comfort to a little girl who desperately misses her father.
ABC7 recently shared their story—please take a moment to watch and share: https://abc7.com/post/vietnamese-father-husband-fountain-valley-resident-is-held-detention-center-being-detained-ice/16088116/
No family should have to endure this heartbreak. No child should have to wonder where their parent has gone. If you can, please consider donating and sharing their story. Every bit of kindness helps bring them one step closer to reuniting their family.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. ❤️
