Stand By Martin

**UPDATE 8-17-2018**

As some of you know,  Martin applied for SSI, disability, and medicaid following his discharge from the hospital in May of this year.  After a long wait, we received our answer just a few days ago. He was denied all benefits.  Martin has appealed their decision and now we wait...again.  This has put us in an even larger financial bind as the medicaid was going to help cover medical costs from the hospital and any further medical treatment. We are both trying our best to stay afloat financially. If I (Stacy) could go out into the world and work, I would. But, I have a health condition of my own. It breaks my heart that I can't help my family financially.  We both appreciate all the love, support, prayers, and donations thus far.  If any of you could donate and/or share our story we would be forever grateful.  We love you all!!

Martin's story of a Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis...

As of late March 2018, Martin was relieved from his job. He had begun to have symptoms like tingling and numbness in his legs, arms, and hands. He was gradually losing grip in his left hand which made even the smaller tasks extremely difficult.  After a while he began to fall at work.  His boss, out of concern for Martin's safety, relieved him of his duties.  Martin came home, and with a heavy heart, told me what happened.  He rested his body for a few weeks and he felt a little better until the symptoms returned...and they returned with a vengeance almost over night.  After a bad fall at home, we made a decision that he HAD to get medical treatment as soon as possible. We knew that something serious was wrong!

The next part of Martin's journey began April 30, 2018...

This was the day he was admitted to the hospital. The hospital would become his home for the next 8 days. A CT scan, 3 MRIs, a spinal tap, and a multitude of other tests finally confirmed the doctor's suspicions from Martin's first night in the hospital. On the final day of his hospital stay the neurologist came into the room and gave us Martin's diagnosis...multiple sclerosis.  On May 8, 2018 we finally had answers!

This has left us with thousands of dollars in medical bills, not to mention the urgency of getting Martin to a neurologist so he can receive ongoing care, as his symptoms are still very much present.  I'll be honest with you all. With medical bills now piling up and the cost of living, we are left in a extremely tough position financially.  With humble and grateful hearts, we are asking for help. Donations will help with immediate living expenses (rent/food/etc), medical bills, and medical treatments for Martin.

Any donations will be very much appreciated and we will be forever grateful. If you aren't able to make a donation, please help by sharing this with your friends and family. God bless you all.

I wanted to share this photo, which was taken on his first night at the hospital just a few hours after we heard there was a possibility of him having multiple sclerosis.  Through uncertainity, his spirit remains unbroken. Love to you all.
