Stand by Zyon's Family Through Hard Times
Donation protected
On February 24th I received a call that Zyon was being rushed to the hospital and that he had fell face first off of the roof at work & had gotten hurt pretty badly. I rushed to Deer River hospital where they had decided to take him to Duluth by helicopter. I drove separately and had called for an update on Zyon and was told he was being brought in for emergency brain surgery- as he had fractured his skull & had a brain bleed/clot the size of an egg putting a significant amount of pressure onto his brain & they needed it removed before it caused more damage. When we arrived he was in surgery and got out about 2 hours later. They got the clot out and so far his cat scan came back clear and he hasn’t had any more bleeding that they could see. Along with that he broke his collar bone, right arm, slight break in his left wrist, has facial fractures, 3 broken vertebrae, lots of neck muscles were also pulled & his right eye was pushed back but they were able to fix that as well. He was woken up after surgery and knew where he was and recognized everyone around him but was still very groggy from the medications & sedative from surgery.
As many of you know, we just welcomed our 5th child Izzy two weeks ago. Since Zyon was the sole provider, we are looking for some help to get us through as we navigate this tough time. The doctor is estimating 6 months minimum until he can return to work- as his body heals. All donations will go towards bills, groceries, transportation expenses, ongoing medical expenses, help with what the kids may need, etc.
Thank you to all of the family that had come to see us and show your love and support. It means a lot to us to have such a good support system.
If you cannot donate, please send a prayer for Zyon and his recovery. Thank you all.

Update 02/26: Zyon got the dressing off of his surgical site- he has 38 staples in his head. We had to redress the area because of the amount of swelling and drainage.
His face is extremely swollen on the right side & his neck brace puts a lot of pressure onto his face where it’s pushing on some of his facial fractures. He is having some new neck pain today as he tore a lot of muscles in his neck & we talked to his neurosurgeon and he gave the thumbs up to use the soft cast while in bed and the hard cast while up and moving. He was able to walk around a bit today which he said felt nice- but he didn’t like the pain the hard brace caused. Every day he says he feels a little better, which is a positive. He thanks everybody for the tremendous amount of support we are receiving. I’ll keep updating as I get more information but this is what we have for now. Thank you all❤️
Update 2/27: Plastic surgery came in today. He has 4 facial fractures and some nerve trauma but he will not need surgery! Amen. Doctor says facial bruising will last about a month and his facial swelling will last about 4 months. The right side of his face will stay tender as it heals but should get substantially better over the next few weeks. He also had gotten up today and walked around with physical therapy & was cleared to walk without a walker as long as he had supervision & someone to assist him if he started feeling dizzy/nauseous. He is in a bit of pain today (neck mostly) but has been trying to manage without the Dilaudid as much as possible. He amazes everyone around him with how much he is able to push himself & manage the pain!!
He also ate breakfast this morning which was a plus- as he’s been struggling with a loss of appetite & nausea. Thank you all again for the prayers & kind words for Zyon and all of the family. We appreciate it! ❤️
Update 03/01: Today was a bit of a rough day. Fell behind on his pain meds so he had a bit of a tough time while waiting for them to kick in. Had some new chest pain and neck throbbing today but that went away. We are looking forward to discharge hopefully early this week but we are waiting to see how he can manage the pain before we set a date. Monday is his goal! His bruising and swelling is coming down really nice and his incision is healing well!
Doctor said be on the lookout for overstimulation & doesn’t want him to overdo it so he is just taking the rest of the day to rest and focus on healing. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. ❤️ God Bless.
