Stand in the gaps with us while Jacob heals

Hey friends, I am standing in a space that hurts. As a mother, I've watched from a distance as friends that have been family for the last 18 years have faced the worst fears -- and come back from the brink. Erika and Jeff's oldest recently relocated to Texas for a much-deserved promotion out of the field of horticulture and into the office.

Shortly after the move, Jacob Young was critically injured in a motorcycle accident the night of October 4, 2022. If we're being raw and honest, it was unlikely he'd survive. Erika flew out before the sun even rose the next day and stayed by his side for the next three to four weeks as doctors rounded each morning in the trauma surgical ICU. Most of his ribs were fractured, bilateral chest tubes for weeks, ruptured and removed spleen, damaged arteries and veins in his neck, shattered and dislocated hand, and multiple other injuries and surgeries. The protection of his grandfather's racing helmet saved his life and provided neuroprotection for the healing and recovery that was able to follow as a result. He battled infections, illnesses, and many setbacks throughout his stay. Meanwhile, his mother camped on the couch of his ICU room, fighting alongside her son until his discharge. That's right- discharged home.

Jacob's recovery has been challenging with a new job, being without pay while his bills continue to accrue. He focused on healing through massive trauma, fighting through pain, medication adjustments, and physical therapy to WALK OUT OF THE HOSPITAL unassisted. He's worked so hard at this second chance; he deserves to focus on complete healing without worrying his gas and electric will be disconnected. Please stand in this gap with us, and help financially, so that Jacob can rest in the comfort his bills will be met. Every dollar collected will be used for this purpose; Jacob will be the beneficiary to use at his discretion to recover the cost of his motorcycle, months of rent, insurance, living expenses, and medical bills.
