Stand Strong Philippines

On the evening of November 11, 2020, Typhoon Ulysses, made landfall in the Philippines. It hit the islands with winds of 150 kilometer (90 miles) per hour and causing widespread flooding. Millions lost power and over 100,000 were evacuated.

As of November 15, 2020 the death toll sits at 67 deaths. This number will likely rise as many areas are still submerged in water. Over 150,000 families were affected and more than 2,200 families find themselves displaced from their homes and living in evacuation centers. 

Stand Strong Philippines  began in  2013 when BYU and BYUH students teamed up in response to Typhoon Haiyan which devastated the Philippines. Through our fundraising efforts we were able to fund a medical mission in partnership with Zion Emergency and Disaster Rescue Unit   (ZEDRU) to Tacloban, Leyte and surrounding areas. Fast forward to 2020 and we pick up where we left off and continue our efforts to raise funds for victims of Typhoon Ulysses in Cagayan Valley. We at Stand Strong Philippines are committed to helping our brothers and sisters in the Philippines. Some of us are from the affected areas and many more of us have friends and family affected by this disaster.

Our goal is to raise funds to help with relief and rebuilding efforts. We will be teaming up with ZEDRU  to distribute food, clean drinking water, first aid, medicine, and essential hygiene items to those affected by Typhoon Ulysses in Cagayan Valley and the surrounding areas. We know that needs change daily and we have contacts on the ground keeping us updated of those needs so that we can make sure funds raised go exactly where they are needed.
