Stand up for Coach Sturgeon
Donation protected
On October 4th, 2018, Omaha Burke High School Softball Coach, Jeff Sturgeon, headed to the ER after coaching at Softball Districts all day with an incredible headache. He was kept overnight to try and get the pain under control and to undergo tests. On October 5th, he and his wife and family received devastating news from the physicians. The result of the scans showed that his headache stemmed from the presence of a baseball-sized brain tumor in his frontal lobe area. Physicians were suggesting for him to have surgery on that following Wednesday to remove the tumor. He kindly let the physician know that he wouldn’t be able to do this because his girls just made it to the State Softball Tournament for the 1st time in 13 years. He was already disappointed that he missed the District Championship as he was hospitalized and watched on FaceTime from his hospital bed. He was adamant that he wasn’t going to miss the State Tournament. Coach Sturgeon is in his 2nd year of coaching at Burke and his passion for the sport has turned the program around in 2 years. He is known for talking to the girls about being mentally tough in which he showed them his mental toughness and fought through the pain from the pressure the tumor is causing and coached during the Nebraska State Softball Tournament. Now that softball has concluded it is time for him to face his next challenge. His upcoming surgery to remove the tumor is up next for him to conquer. Coach Sturgeon has not only helped the Omaha Burke Softball Program but he has made an impact on many families lives and we want to be there to help support him through this challenge. Coach Sturgeon will be out of work for an extended period of time for recovery. There will be a lot of extra unplanned expenses along with current expenses for he and his family. Jeff is married to Abby and they have two young sons, Brayden and Brody. Jeff also has an older daughter, Jordyn who is a student at Creighton University.
Let’s come together to support Coach Sturgeon and help him and his family in a time of need. Please consider making a donation to a Coach who is always 100% dedicated to his teams. Please share his page with others you know that would want to support Coach!
