Stand Up for Platte County's Children
Donation protected
On Monday, December 16, the Commissioners in Platte County Missouri unanimously voted to overturn the results of a county-wide vote to establish a Children's Services Fund.
The ballot measure, passed by a popular vote of 56% during the November election, would support early intervention and connect children to mental health resources to combat issues such as drug use, suicide rates and juvenile crime.
This decision made by the Commissioners directly contradicts the voices and votes of the people in our county and we need help to fight back and help children!
Platte 4 Kids has already spent over $30,000 in legal fees to get a writ of mandamus to compel the commissioners to put the question on the ballot. Now we need help for the next round of legal battles, that could run as high as $75,000-$100,000.
This fundraiser is for the Platte County 4 Kids coalition, a collective group of nonprofits in the Kansas City metro that worked to pass a children's mental health tax in Platte County. Members of the coalition include: Synergy Services, Beacon Mental Health, Feed Northland Kids and various community members and organziations.
