On Wednesday, January 30, 2019, Sharon "Shay" Barnett suffered a devastating stroke. She was air-lifted from her farm in Camden, SC to Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC, where she remains in ICU.
Shay is the owner of Shaybird Farm in Camden, SC. where she has been a fixture in the equestrian community for decades. Shay is a wonderful dressage rider, trainer and instructor – and offers excellent care for horses boarded at Shaybird Farm.
Shay is facing a long, arduous fight to regain her life. We know she has the spirit and determination. What she will need is time and financial support to help meet the challenges she faces – expert medical care, physical therapy and more. We are asking for your help for the expenses already incurred and those that we know will be required for Shay to be able to return to Shaybird Farm. It is the one thing that will keep her fighting the good fight ... the promise of coming home to her farm, her beloved horses, cats and Corgis.
Shay’s friends and family are rallying to support the day-to-day operations at the farm, but the looming expenses threaten the very thing that will keep Shay fighting the good fight. Your help will go a long way to relieving her of this awful worry so that she can concentrate on recovering.
