My name is Sandra, I’m an author and literary agent from the US and I am in direct communication with and am helping 26-year-old Ahmed Abu Rabea and his four younger siblings and parents living in tents in Central Gaza with this GoFundMe campaign. It will be used to cover the family’s immediate and dire basic needs in securing food and water that are extremely expensive.

The family is not planning to evacuate and is instead asking for your help to keep from going hungry and thirsty during this time, and to help others keep from doing so as well. My name is Ahmed Abu Rabea and I am 26 years old. I am asking for help in securing a future for myself, my two sisters and two brothers, and my parents who are unable to work. I am the sole provider of my family and responsible for their well-being.

Like others, I am currently unemployed. Before, I was an accountant.

Losing my job has been extremely difficult on me and my family as prices on what little there is are very high. We are currently living in a tent, which feels like living in an oven, with summer temperatures reaching 40°C. We survive, but it is truly miserable and we want nothing more than for the attacks to stop and to be able to rebuild our home.

We are thankful for even the smallest donation to help us survive until there is a ceasefire and to start over. Our current costs are about $2,000 per month for food and water. Anything extra that we have, I use to help others around us. Below is a video I took a while ago when a woman from Egypt donated money to me so that I could buy diapers and milk and distribute them to the children.

My dream at the moment is to open an online business after a ceasefire to help rebuild our lives and to help provide for my family. No amount is too small to help us survive and we are eternally grateful to you.
