Support Allison's Groundbreaking Third Transplant
Donation protected
In 2019, Allison was given a mere 5% chance of surviving 30 days after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. But true to her spirit, she defied the odds and has been fighting ever since.
Nearly six years later, after being diagnosed four times with aggressive cancer, she has undergone countless treatments. These include more than 20 weeks of chemotherapy, full-body radiation, over 100 bone marrow biopsies, and two spinal taps. She has spent months relying on daily transfusions of blood and platelets.
Her journey has included two battles with septic shock, which resulted in over a month in the ICU, as well as multiple hospitalizations due to double pneumonia on three occasions, dehydration, RSV, and a possible stroke. She has lost the ability to walk, stand, and drive, endured five months of having feeding tubes, and accumulated over 500 days in hospitals.
In addition, she has faced thousands of needles and IVs, chronic graft-versus-host disease affecting her lungs, intestines, skin, joints, and sinuses, leading to surgery. She has suffered broken vertebrae and an arm from treatment-related osteoporosis, experienced two failed stem cell transplants, and participated in two clinical trials. Throughout all of this, she continues to fight with an unwavering will to stay here for her family.
Now, Allison is preparing for her third bone marrow transplant at NYU, a groundbreaking and emotional milestone. Her daughter, Lillie, is her donor, and this will be the first time NYU is performing a bone marrow transplant with a child as the donor for a parent. This is also the first time NYU is conducting a third bone marrow transplant on a patient, making this an especially risky and complex procedure.
Despite the challenges, Allison remains determined. Her focus is clear—she is fighting with everything she has to be here for her two young daughters and her husband. She is not only a warrior, but also a source of inspiration to everyone who knows her.
As she begins this next chapter, Allison will require significant support, especially for the care needed during her recovery. All transplant patients must remain close to the hospital for 100 days after the procedure. This means Allison will need to stay in New York City and have a caregiver with her 24/7, which will cost $600 per day. We are asking for your help to ease some of this burden and ensure that Allison and her family can focus on her recovery without the added stress of financial strain. Countless expenses will continue to come up and we don't want Allison to have to worry about this while she fights to stay alive. Allison is on a fixed income with Social Security Disability and is solely responsible for her medical expenses in addition to budgeting for household needs.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference in supporting Allison and her family through this incredibly challenging time. Your generosity will help them navigate the months ahead as she continues to fight for the most important thing in her life—being there for her family.
Thank you for your love, support, and belief in Allison as she continues her fight for life.
*Allison would like to share that should she succumb to her illness during or after this risky procedure, any unused funds will be contributed to her daughters’, Lillie and Rosie, 529 College Fund.
