January 25th, 2025, at 7:00PM, my family experienced the worst night of our entire lives. One by one, my parents, his girlfriend of 9 years, his closest friend, and my eight siblings and I found out that our oldest brother, their son, their uncle, their partner, our family rock, Alfonso Villegas, was tragically killed in a hit and run with a close family friend, Angel Rivera.
Driving home from helping a friend move, he took a safe left turn he's taken his whole life, this time he was blindsided, T-boned by a driver going over 100MPH who proceeded to flee the scene on foot. Fonsi died on the scene along with our friend. There are no words to explain the shock and grief blanketing my family today, a weight that is sitting in our throats and choking us with tears. He was the strongest pillar of our family, tethering all of us together like the best older brother that he was. He was always kind, always ready to help his friends and his family to the best of his abilities, last week my family found out that our father was diagnosed with cancer for the fourth time and in the midst of coping with this news, we have lost our rock, our father lost his biggest help and cheerleader.
Our family's finances are already stretched thin with medical costs from our father's illness, and we are asking for help with burial costs to let Fonsi rest easy, knowing that his strength is with us all now. We know this will not be easy, Fonsi was our grounding force, a scholar to listen to, a brother to lean on, a joker just to make us smile whenever he could, the hardest thing is that he's no longer here to make it all better. Our deepest wish now is to send him off with the best that we can give him, because truly, Fonsi deserves the best.
To his friends, he passed being the kind, loyal, and supportive friend we all know him to be, always willing to drop what he was doing and help us all out, now we will help him be in peace. He left too early, he left without the chance to say goodbye, but he left us full of his love in our hearts and lives. He will always be a part of us.
Thank you in advance and now, for all of your support, prayers, and thoughts.
