Hello Family and Friends of Astrid Beck,
Astrid is among the most amazing people you could have the pleasure of meeting. She is beautiful both inside, and out. She is kind, caring, generous, intelligent, funny, adventurous, and always has a smile to share - To know Astrid is to love her.
Astrid is a child of God, a wife to Bruce, and a mother to two exceptional children, Angelica and Adrian. She is a daughter, a sister, an aunt, an amazing friend to many, a badass boss babe, and so much more!
Astrid's story
Astrid received news of an abnormal mammogram earlier this year. Since then she has endured a vast amount of testing; blood work, MRIs, ultrasounds, etc.
March 26th, she received the devastating diagnosis of Breast Cancer. More specifically, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage 2, Triple Negative. This is an aggressive form of breast cancer that grows & spreads faster and has fewer treatment options.
With barely enough time to comprehend her diagnosis, her Dr. and medical team jumped into action. A port was surgically implanted in her chest and she began receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments. The game plan is 16 weekly treatments of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. After some time to rest and recuperate, she will undergo surgery, reconstruction, additional treatments, and weeks of recovery. She has a long fight ahead.
Astrid has just completed week 7. To you or me, it seems like WOW she’s almost halfway through with treatment. To Astrid, the chemo that is meant to kill the cancer is taking a harsh toll on her body: nausea, aches and pains, extreme body temperature swings, and exhaustion.
The American Cancer Society reports that one of the things most cancer patients stress about the most during treatment is the financial burden this is putting on their families.
Office visits, treatment, medication copays, unpaid medical expenses, specialty comfort items, and travel expenses to appointments are adding up quickly, and as her treatment continues her stress level grows.
This GoFundMe campaign is to reduce some of the financial stress so Astrid can focus on her health. Any contribution, no matter how much the amount will help to make a difference.
As she continues with faith, courage, and grace on this difficult journey to fight cancer, please keep Astrid, Bruce, Angelica, and Adrian in your thoughts and prayers sending encouragement, and good vibes.
