Stand with Chelsie's Family in Their Time of Need

Donation protected
Kinkaider is asking for your help in a time of need to support Chelsie and her family after a devastating event that has impacted their lives. Chelsie is a dedicated server at Kinkaider in Broken Bow. She and her husband, Jon, have five wonderful children, ages 5 to 14, whom they homeschool. Jon has been a committed employee at BD for nearly 11 years, and they have been proud to call Mason City their home.

On July 5, 2024, their lives were turned upside down. At 12:20 AM, they woke up to their neighbors pounding on the door. Their beloved 15-passenger Ford Transit, the vehicle that safely transported their entire family, was on fire. Despite their neighbors' heroic efforts to pull the van away from the garage using chains, it was too late. The fire spread to their garage, completely engulfing it in flames.

This was not just any garage. Over 100 years old, it held a special place in Mason City's history. In the early 1900s, it served as the town's livery stable where the local doctor stored his horse and buggy. Losing this piece of history is a profound loss for them and the community.

The fire not only destroyed their van and garage but also claimed many essential and sentimental items, including their mower, all tools, life jackets, lawn chairs, deep freezer, coolers, all outdoor toys, and ball gear.

While we are incredibly grateful that their house was spared and no one was injured, they are now facing significant challenges. The van, which was essential for their family, is gone, and the garage, with its historical significance, is destroyed.

We are asking for your help to rebuild and recover from this tragic event. The funds raised will go towards:
  • Replacing their family vehicle so they can continue their daily lives and homeschooling activities.
  • Rebuilding the garage and preserving its historical significance for Mason City.
  • Replacing the lost items that are essential for their daily lives and family activities.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in their lives. We understand that times are tough for many, and we appreciate any support you can provide, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing their story with others.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this challenging time. We are hopeful that with your help, Chelsie and her family can rebuild and move forward.
