Stand with Denny in His Health Battle

Our son was having high heart rates, and fevers of 104.6 so we sought emergency medical assistance. We took him to ottumwa regional hospital Thursday night. When we got there they started labs, X-rays, and respiratory panels. It came back that Denny has pneumonia, rhinovirus, and sepsis. He got transferred to the u of I via life flight. Everyday we have been facing a new battle. His fevers won’t get under control. Oxygen keeps increasing. Now he is refusing to eat. We attempted an NG tube for feedings but keep getting nose bleeds and can’t get it down. The next step will be sedation to be able to get the tube into his stomach. Mom rode here with him. All we brought was a diaper bag and the clothes on our backs. We are asking for some help as we don’t have our van up here. The things we are asking for help paying for are some food since we can’t leave. Some clothes for mom and kids. We are paying for a Lyft so mom can go get the car in ottumwa and bring it back to the university. And a possibly a hotel for mom to have to stay in since the other kids can’t visit their brother at night so balancing going back and forward during the days or if dad has to stay home then we miss out on any pay from work. This all progressed so fast that there were some quick decisions to be made. We do not have an expected date of release yet since he needs to be able to eat by himself again, stop getting fevers, and breathe on his own again.
