Stand with Ebony: Justice and Healing

Hello, my name is Taft, and I work for a non-profit organization in the Mid-Atlantic region. I’m proud to call Baltimore home, and I consider myself fortunate to help working-class individuals and families every day. In this line of work, we often encounter people during some of the most difficult times of their lives, and unfortunately, this is no exception.

My friend Ebony is a hard-working, caring, and no-nonsense daughter of Baltimore, who has always opened her heart and home to anyone in need. I had the privilege of meeting Ebony many months ago while helping her and her coworkers push back against wage theft and gross mistreatment on the job. When presented with the opportunity to stand up for herself and her colleagues, she stepped up with unwavering determination. Over time, it became clear to me just how deeply passionate and compassionate Ebony is—not only for her family, but for everyone in her circle.

On December 9th, 2024, Ebony received the devastating news that her son, K'von, had fallen victim to gun violence in Baltimore. K'von was just 24 years old and had been a best friend to many, just like his mother. The expense of his funeral will deplete the family’s remaining savings, compounding their grief as they face life without K’von’s irreplaceable presence.

As if that weren’t enough, just before Thanksgiving, Ebony—who has always been the primary breadwinner for her family—was illegally and unjustly fired for organizing her coworkers.
Ebony is a mother and friend to so many, and she does not deserve the hardships that have recently come her way.

Please join me in supporting this hardworking sister and her family as they navigate the difficult road ahead, helping with funeral costs, bills, and final arrangements. Your support would mean the world to her and her loved ones during this incredibly challenging time.
