Eddie’s life didn’t start on the smoothest path. Growing up in East LA, he was surrounded by hardship and struggle. As a teenager, he found himself in a gang, caught in a cycle of addiction, violence, and hopelessness. He spent years making choices that only led him deeper into darkness.

But Eddie refused to let his past define him. Through faith, resilience, and an unwavering belief in change, he turned his life around. He found sobriety and has remained clean for over 30 years. He dedicated himself to serving others, working side by side with the East LA Chamber of Commerce, local businesses, law enforcement, and community leaders to rebuild the very streets where he once fought battles of his own.

Instead of tearing down his community, he fought to build it up.

-He led efforts to preserve Belvedere Park from being lost to commercial development.

-He fought for fair compensation for businesses impacted by public transit projects.

-He worked with Metro and city officials to prevent devastating construction that would have displaced residents.

✅ He donated time, resources, and even handmade signage for schools, hospitals, fire departments, and community events.

Through every battle, every challenge, Eddie never backed down. He became a bridge between communities—between law enforcement and the people, between businesses and the city, between the past and the future of East Los Angeles.

But today, he faces a fight he cannot win alone.

Recently, Eddie suffered a tragic fall that resulted in severe spinal injuries. Emergency spinal surgery saved his life, but the damage was catastrophic. He has lost function in his hands and feet. He is unable to work, unable to move without assistance, and facing an uncertain road ahead.

Doctors say his recovery will take months, possibly years—and there is no guarantee of full mobility returning. Eddie, the man who has spent his life lifting others up, is now in a position where he needs to be lifted.
