Stand with Emilia Rose in Her Battle

Beloved family and friends,

We would like to start this introduction by presenting to you our strong baby girl, Emilia Rose Huerta. Emilia is a two-year-old girl whose life has been surrounded by rainbows, butterflies, and her Bluey Toys! Although her life still consists of these things, her health and well-being have taken a turn for the worse. In late February, Emilia was hospitalized for what started as a bone infection in her leg and later was discovered to be B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Shortly after her diagnosis, Emilia began consistent rounds of high-dose steroids, chemotherapy, spinal-tab procedures, and so on. Her journey with treatments has been short but it will continue for years to come. Emilia finds herself in the consolidation/intensification phase, meaning that there are no active leukemia cells in her bone marrow, but her treatments will continue to kill off any remaining cells to prevent the cancer from returning.

As of now, Emilia finds herself in good health and is back at home in the company of her three brothers (Santi, Victor, and Noah) and her parents (Erika and Arturo). At the center of her diagnosis, massive life adjustments have approached her life and the lives of those around her. After finding out about her diagnosis, Erika decided to take a non-paid leave of absence from her job as her daughter’s condition requires round-the-clock care. Even though Erika and Arturo typically refrain from seeking assistance, this period in their lives calls for the support of their community. We aim to ensure they have access to necessities such as food, transportation to and from the hospital, and bill payments. We ask that you consider donating to help aid the family’s expenses. Emilia and her family have a long road ahead of them, and lessening this burden will relieve a minute amount of stress. Nonetheless, please keep our baby girl and those dear to her in your prayers.

Nos gustaría comenzar esta introducción presentándoles a nuestra valiente niña, Emilia Rose Huerta. ¡Emilia es una niña de dos años cuya vida ha estado rodeada de arcoíris, mariposas y sus juguetes de Bluey! Aunque su vida todavía está llena de estas cosas, su salud y bienestar han tomado un giro para peor. A finales de febrero, Emilia fue hospitalizada por lo que comenzó como una infección en su pierna y más tarde se descubrió que era leucemia linfoblástica aguda de células B. Poco después de su diagnóstico, Emilia comenzó rondas consistentes de esteroides de alta dosis, quimioterapia, procedimientos espinales y demás. Su viaje con los tratamientos ha sido corto pero continuará durante años. Emilia se encuentra en la fase de consolidación/intensificación, lo que significa que no hay células de leucemia activas en su médula ósea, pero sus tratamientos continuarán eliminando cualquier célula restante para evitar que el cáncer regrese.
