Stand with Erica in Her Health Battle

On May 14 Erica went in for standard preventative testing. She was told she had a blood clot that needed to be removed. She went in for the procedure to have it removed on May 16. During that procedure doctors discovered something unfamiliar and made the decision to back out of the removal. She was admitted to Fairfield Medical Center that day where she remained until they could transfer her to OSU for further evaluation. Erica was transferred to the OSU Ross Center on May 18. After a barrage of tests and some outside consultation, the team of physicians determined she had an extremely rare and life threatening condition called intravascular leiomyomatosis that would require surgery. With this condition being so rare, the care team was not comfortable treating her at the Ross Center so Erica was transferred to the Cleveland Clinic on June 9. She has been tested and evaluated further since arriving in Cleveland. There she will undergo open heart and vascular surgery.

For those who know Erica, she practices a healthy lifestyle. All of this came as a shock to her and her family. Altho her life has been completely disrupted, she is extremely thankful to the medical community saved her life. Throughout this situation, Erica has continued to keep a positive attitude. Her husband, Rob, has not left her side from day one.

Many of us who love Rob and Erica have been looking for a tangible way to help and support them as they walk thru this storm in their life. Right now they are facing many unexpected expenses as a result of Erica's extended hospital stay and Rob's determination to remain by her side. When the medical bills come in, they will be facing even more expenses. I set this up so those of us who are able can help ease their burden as they continue to walk this path.
