Stand with Gabriella in Her Custody Battle

Hello, my name is Gabriella, and I am in dire need of your help. Since August 2023, I have been embroiled in a custody battle with the father of my two children. My primary goal has always been to co-parent civilly and provide a stable environment for our kids.

In November 2023, I decided to opt for joint custody to spare our children the emotional stress of a trial. Despite agreeing to pay child support, I was content knowing my kids wouldn’t have to choose between their parents. We reached an agreement, and I believed the court would handle the payments. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding, and my payments were not processed as expected.

I was also ordered to cover 50% of any medical and dental bills, which I have done. However, due to the confusion with the child support payments, I fell behind. When I sought clarification from my lawyer and the Texas Attorney General, I was informed that the court order had not been finalized.

Now, the father of my children has decided to revisit the issue, taking me back to mediation and possibly to trial. This is something I desperately wanted to avoid for the sake of our kids, who are now 14 and 15.

I rarely ask for help, preferring to solve my problems independently. However, I find myself in a position where I cannot proceed without assistance. My lawyer requires an upfront retainer fee that I cannot afford. Rather than giving up, I am determined to fight back and do what is best for my children.
