Help George Relocate & Sue Greedy Landlords

My name is George Gracia. I reside at 421 Jose Marti Blvd Unit 308 in Brownsville, Texas 78526 and have been here since the pandemic in April of 2020. I am an elderly American citizen, 66 years of age, on a fixed income of Social Security and I am wrongfully being evicted by my landlords Albert & Keyla Madrigal, who have offices at 1609 Price Rd, Brownsville, TX 78526.

On May 1, 2024, I signed a one-year lease (see enclosed) effective immediately and to end on April 30, 2025, at 5 pm. Five days later, I was thrown a curveball when called by phone at work by Albert, to alert me that my rental was going to be sold for $112,000 effective immediately. I was very upset, could barely work, and the landlords gave me 45 days to find new lodging, which was not in writing.

I experienced mental anguish, depression, anxiety, debilitating stress, anger, helplessness, hopelessness, emotional withdrawal, difficulty concentrating, struggling to make decisions, feeling overwhelmed, constantly worrying, being forgetful, avoiding family and friends, staying in, being antisocial with low energy and cloudy thinking. Every aspect of my daily routine was affected due to not having the funds for relocation in particular because work hours were drastically cut due to the double whammy of Hurricane Beryl/& the Shark Attacks on SPI in peak Summer Season.

My landlords agreed to not charge me rent for August and help with the sum of $1300 (not including the $500 Security Deposit). Which turned out to be a ploy (again..not in writing). And I have spent the last 3 months, packing, and looking for a place to live to no avail. I am feeling sick, overwhelmed, anxiety-ridden, stressed, losing weight, losing sleep, losing work.

My landlords have not put anything in writing.... and now they have started the eviction process (which, of course, they put in, surprise... writing). They are giving me 3 days to vacate and have reneged on giving me not one red cent for relocation fees. They now claim I am being evicted for non-payment of rent for August when they were advised by their Realtor Company to waive the August Rent. When in reality they want me out because they sold the condo.

However, I have a binding, valid one-year lease that did not include the very essential clause that stipulates that in the event of a sale my lease would be null and void. And they refuse to stand by their oral agreement to pay cash for keys, buyout my 8 months remaining on my lease that they are terminating early. They also are falsely claiming I had HOA complaints, which if I did.... then why have me sign a new lease? I've been here 4 years.....and at one point they agreed to a 2-year lease.....I have always paid my rent..... and because I pay with my minimal Social Security Check on the 2nd Wednesday of every month..... they have consistently charged me $5 a day late fees.....which could total up to $80 dollars every month.

In their lease clause 6 stipulates 'quiet enjoyment' ....well I have videos of a moldy, rusted, screeching Kenmore fridge....that would scare a deaf man....I kept the videos. For 2 years I complained....I have all the texts. They would not replace it......until...very conveniently, .they were about to sell. On the ceiling, there are 2 huge water spots. The bedroom has no lights. The washer/dryer combo makes so much noise you would think a helicopter was landing in the kitchen. 'Quiet enjoyment???' I think not......neither of the Madrigals have stepped in the condo in 4 years to inspect at all.....if they had they'd see the smoke alarm was defective. And that a paint job was merited. But you can be sure they will now make an appearance.....after all they have 112,000 reasons.

Speaking of which.....they took photos of all my personal belongings, family photos, and posted them without my consent on every website that features condos for sale....I am a very private person..... and I feel violated.....I was shocked, appalled.

In conclusion....what Albert & Keyla are doing to an elderly tenant who paid them over $40,000 in rent & late fees since the pandemic in 2020, on a fixed income & paycheck to paycheck existence no less, does not make them brilliant, savvy, great business people or entrepreneurs..... but what it does.... is......it says a whole about them.

To whoever is reading this...I do apologize for taking up your time.....but I do beseech someone to help me....I am at the end of my rope....about to experience homelessness.....someone out there....please ....please...please help me.....in hopes of some good Samaritan who can assist......
