Stand with Heights: Omar Child Assault
Donation protected

Carlos Jose Ayala Morales is now one of the 10 Most Wanted Fugitives in Texas. Let's bring him to justice.
On Monday, January 27th three young girls were stalked at they walked home from school on Omar St in Woodland Heights. The smallest of the three, a first grader, was grabbed from behind and assaulted in broad daylight. Here is an account in the child's own words, in this interview.
The day it happened, the victim's Mom knocked on my door asking for help. Other Neighbors and I immediately began canvassing for witnesses or camera footage (link to News coverage of Moms searching for child predator). We quickly found images that have been widely circulated by local and national media, such as this news story. I, Holly Roemisch, organized this campaign with the consent of and on behalf of the child's family as part of the effort to make good on that promise to help while maintaining the child's privacy.
Now Houston Police believe she was yet another victim of Carlos Jose Ayala Morales, 43, who has been charged with felony attempted indecency with a child in this case. Ayala Morales has attacked at least 11 young girls ranging from 7 to 15 years old since at least 2014. He was convicted of 4 sexual assaults or related incidents. Despite his prison sentence, he was not on the list of registered sex offenders (since news of this story broke he has been added).
According to court documents, Ayala Morales was released from prison just last year and handed over to ICE. Yet, he has continued to terrorize Houston school children.
Tips about his whereabouts can be anonymously made through Crimestoppers at 713-222-TIPS for a reward of up to $5,000. Please reference HPD case 01190330-25. All monies gathered from this fundraiser will be submitted in full to Crimestoppers by me directly via check (the HPD detective on the case has approved the supplemental reward and given my name to Crimestoppers as the donator), with the intention to increase the reward for information leading to his arrest and conviction. Crimestoppers will only accept a single donation for a specific case. In the event this criminal is never caught, after a set number of years (generally 5) Crimestoppers refunds the monies donated for reward. In that event, any proceeds from Crimestoppers will be donated to their general fund to continue their work to bring criminals to justice. Monies over $5,000 raised may be used, at the discretion of the victim's family, to fund a private investigator to locate this suspect.
