Continue to Stand with Isaac: Recovery and Hope

Donation protected
Update March 2025- Isaac is home from the hospital and slowly recovering. Sometimes he is using a rolling walker with a seat so he can take breaks and sometimes he is using a quad cane.   It is truly a miracle! Only 20% that have the type of heart attack he had make it to hospital discharge. He has started outpatient physical therapy 3 times per week to work on improving his ambulation and overall strength. Although he is beginning to drive occasionally and is completing light cooking/cleaning; he continues to have difficulty with fatigue and endurance. Unfortunately, Isaac continues to require numerous medications for his heart and asthma/breathing.
*************He will not be able to work for a few more months and continues to need support from friends and family at this time.*********************
Isaac is filled with gratitude for those of you that have helped so far and so am I. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

My name is Brandon and Isaac is my dad. A close friend of my dad’s helped me type this story. I invite you to take a moment to imagine what it would be like to be physically independent one day and then wake up to discover you are 100% dependent on others. That is what happened to Isaac Hinton (father, grandfather, caregiver to his disabled mother, business owner, loved one, friend) when he woke up on January 20th in the ICU after 9 days of being on life support. He had been suffering from the Flu and asked his son to call 911 because he couldn’t breathe which was made worse due to his asthma.***

Once in the ER, Isaac was able to answer questions and tell staff his symptoms, but suddenly lost consciousness due to heart failure (Pulseless Electrical Activity attack {PEA} is a life-threatening condition that occurs when the heart's electrical activity doesn't produce a heartbeat). People who have this type of heart failure usually do not survive! Quickly, the heart failure led to kidney failure and dialysis. We are so blessed to still have this sweet hearted comical man in our lives. In summary, the flu attacked his organs which developed into pneumonia and sepsis.***

Miraculously, Isaac has regained the ability to do a few things for himself: swallow food, feed himself, take a few steps with a walker in his hospital room with adult support, have short conversations before needing rest, but he does not presently have the strength or mobility to care for himself or ambulate without assistance.***

Close friends and family have donated $1700 to pay his cell phone and February rent, which is a drop in the bucket but not enough to pay future rent/utilities or extensive medical needs.***

Isaac may not be able to physically work for a year or more. His career requires strenuous labor. Also, the aftermath of organ failure will be a challenge for him for a long time. Isaac continues to say, “I love everybody” when asked what he would like to share, and when asked if he wants “everybody” to visit him; he always says “Yes”.***

Those of you that know him know that Isaac is ALWAYS moving, caring for others, and joking around. His ability to consistently handle this vulnerable situation with grace and love has been inspiring. He has now been admitted to an inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Facility for the next several weeks. Your donation of $20 or $200 or more will not only be helpful for his recovery, but will be deeply appreciated by Isaac, friends, and family.
