Stand with Kevin - Support his rehabilitation

On the night of February, 18th, 2024, during his trip in North Carolina, USA, Kevin Ingraham had a fall. He was on the bedroom floor, in a country that’s not his own, alone, unable to move his arms or legs. He could hear his wife, Tanya, calling him on his phone across the room without a way to answer it. He wasn’t found until 10 hours later.
He had a C3 spinal injury. This resulted in damaging his respiratory system and losing mobility in his arms and legs.
Kevin had emergency Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion surgery the following day at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. As a result, he spent three weeks being treated in Trauma ICU. In the days that followed his initial surgery, Kevin’s resilience was put to the test - he was intubated with a feeding tube. Two days later, he was diagnosed with pneumonia. After a week, he underwent a procedure to determine the origin of internal bleeding - which was later found in his stomach. On February 29th, he had tracheostomy surgery, and is presently wearing a tracheostomy collar.
Yet, even in the darkest moments, Kevin's spirit and unwavering strength has been a beacon of hope for us all.
Kevin is a fighter. Since his tracheostomy surgery, his breathing has improved greatly. Far better than his doctors expected. And it’s a win we don’t take lightly.
Through it all, Kevin hasn’t had to be alone. His wife, daughter, and mother have been by his side. But it hasn’t been easy. He's currently far from home, The Bahamas, and it’s unclear when he may be able to go back. With our community being so far away, the journey ahead is fraught with uncertainty and challenges.
We need your help to support Kevin through the next-steps in his recovery process. Every $1 counts and it would mean the world to us to get some help. All we want is to be able to start his rehabilitation a little closer to home.
For those who don’t know Kevin, he is a remarkable husband and father to three daughters. He’s funny and loyal. He’s able to smile during the hardest times. He loves to dance - specifically now moving his shoulders to The Six Million Dollar Man Opening Theme (if you know, you know!).
Right now, Kevin currently cannot walk or move his arms.
His doctors are ready to discharge Kevin to a long-term care facility where he can begin the next step in his recovery. Unfortunately, there’s a lack of access to the resources he needs in The Bahamas. We want to get him to Florida where he can be closer to his family and friends, so he can begin rehab somewhere familiar and with his support system.
