Stand with Lara in Her Battle with CCM

Hey there thanks for your support I’m Kris raising money for my wife Lara and I these funds will help cover the cost of medical bills mostly surgery and bills usually paid but otherwise not due to the lost time at work.

This is our story.

Lara works as a CNA and a CMA (certified med aid) has a passion for family motorcycles friends, has an amazing work ethic and supports those she loves.

On Monday April 13th approximately 1:45pm Lara had a grand maul seizure. Lasting approximately 2 minutes. She was at work a coworker witness and assisted her in the best way possible to avoid any further injuries. This was her first seizure. After multiple test an angiogram has been used to make a determination that it is likely caused by a Cerebral cavernous malformation (CCM). Short explanation is there’s a cluster of small brain vessels tightly tangled together causing minor leaking of blood in her brain. The CCM she has and where it’s located  effects 1 in 1700 people Cavernomas can burst and cause a stroke but we’re lucky that the seizure led us to find this early as they determined it to be small. The leaking of the blood stains the brain with iron deposits. Over time the brain can’t ignore the iron staining her brain and from what started out as migranes turned into a full blown seizure. Which led us to the discovery

after an overnight and all day stay at the hospital she’s home

Currently she’s on ibuprofen for the migranes and a seizure medication to help prevent any future seizures.

She’s awaiting scheduling for an EEG And a visit with the neurologist. It’s possible neurosurgery (brain surgery) may be required but it could cause lasting neurological effects. Lara might have a choice to avoid the surgery with risk of a stoke but I’m not sure yet we will know more after seeing the neurologist. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes!

Due to state law she’s unable to drive for 3 months after a seizure or unless a dr can medically say she’s no longer at risk for another one. She can return to work 10 days after this event.

I on the other hand am an no longer going to continue to be an over the road truck driver she’s more to me than any job regardless of pay so I’ve decided to take a pay cut and stay local from this day forward to be as close to my wife as possible.
