Stand with Larry in His Cancer Struggle

Hey everyone, Larissa here. 2025 has not started out as a great year yet. My husband, Larry, has been diagnosed with laryngeal cancer, which has spread to at least the lymph nodes in his neck. One node is growing daily. It has grown at least 1 cm all around in 2 weeks.

On January 17th he went for a routine visit with our primary doctor and with a concern about a lymph node that felt hard. The doctor ordered him to get blood work, an ultrasound (01/27/2025) and then a needle biopsy (02/10/2025) of that lymph node. Results: squamous cell carcinoma, node roughly 2.8cm with a smaller one behind it.

The actual full laryngeal diagnosis just happened on Monday, 2/24/2025. A PET/CT scan is scheduled for 3/13/2025 to see if and where it has spread to. He has no insurance and cannot get insurance either. That procedure will cost $2300. He is also scheduled to have a direct laryngoscopy with biopsy on 3/11/25. The cost for this procedure as self-pay is almost $19,000 and they require half at the door or they won't treat him. That is just the beginning.

If we can get the scope and biopsy done, we will know more and hopefully a treatment plan. We know this is going to cost a fortune and we both currently have jobs. We have tried to think of everything we can to get treatment and it is simply not something we can afford.

We applied for financial aid through the hospital and were denied.

We have been through thick and thin together for the last 18 years and really want to fight this cancer.
