Aid for Brazil flood victim

Hello

My name is Caetano Almeida, and I live in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Me and my wife Elizabeth Grantham are originally from Brazil, and as you may have heard in the news, floods with no precedent affected the southern state of Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul), where we come from.

Thousands of people lost their houses and all their belongings due to the rain, and the situation is still critical.

This flood affected a dear friend, who is in a very difficult financial condition, and who will struggle to rebuild her life.

Our friend Lete lives near the Sinos River, in the town of São Leopoldo. She spent her life taking care of children, and now she is retired, living from a small government pension.

When the river waters started to rise, due to the rains, she had to evacuate her house and fled to her daughters house. After a couple of hours, her house was completely under water, and the waters also reached her daughter's house. They had to abandon her daughter's house and find shelter on a friend's condo, that is in the fourth floor of a building. The water level kept rising, and it reached the second level of this building, so they had to be rescued by boat.

They are now safe, but both Lete and her daughter lost all their belongings, and she had severe structural damage on her house. I started this fundraiser because she is a very sweet and kind woman, who was always very kind to my family and my children, and deserves to have a safe house to enjoy her retirement.

The rain stopped three days ago, but her house is still under water and unreacheable.

We'll personally ensure that the money will reach Lete, and if we raise more money than needed, we will help other families that are in a similar situation.
