Stand with Manny in his journey to recovery

On behalf of my close friend, Manuel Lima “Manny,” and with his permission, I am starting this GoFundMe for him and his family. Manny was visiting his mom in North Carolina when he experienced a traumatic incident on the night of Friday, June 15th, while he was visiting a friends family in town. They were all subjected to a terrifying violent experience. At gun point Manny and the other victims were robbed and physically tortured. The assailants ransacked the home, and stole a lot of valuables and all personal belongings.

This experience has deeply affected Manny both physically and psychologically. He sustained multiple injuries; from burns to lacerations across his body and to violently being forced to give all confidential information to his credit cards and personal finance information. Manny is currently grappling with the aftermath of this scary encounter, including ongoing stress and anxiety, and the heaviness of leaving his mom without her only transportation. Most of us know how much being there for our parents is something we truly value. While having to deal with the aftermath of assault and abuse, on top of leaving this burden with his mom, it’s been pretty heavy.

To support Manny and his family during this challenging time, we are seeking contributions and support from those around him. All contributions will go towards medical & hospital expenses, psychiatric help, and to help his mom replace the stolen vehicle, which was recently purchased after an earlier accident. The vehicle was only covered by liability insurance, so its loss will not be compensated.
