Support Megan's Family Through This Tragic Loss

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lauren. I'll try to keep this as brief as possible. My twin sister, Megan and her family are going through an incredibly difficult and heart-breaking time. For those that may not know, Megan was pregnant with her second child, due in July 2024. A few weeks ago, her Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor ever so nonchalantly mentioned that her baby's bones were "measuring short" but did not raise significant alarm. However, the mama bear that she is, just couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. She went to Yale ER and was admitted to Labor and Delivery for observation and unfortunately while there, during an already stressful and scary time, her car was stolen from the valet lot and subsequently turned up totaled several days later. When it rains, it pours.

After getting a rental and now having to worry about replacing her car which was not in their financial plan with a second baby on the way, she requested a referral to Yale to see a different Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor. The doctor at Yale was very thorough with his testing and thoughtfully and gently told her that her daughter had a rare skeletal dysplasia that was not conducive to life. My sister and her family had to make some very difficult decisions and we ventured to Mt Sinai Medical Center in NYC. Without a thought of whether or not they were in network with her insurance or what her out of pocket costs would be. Those things were inconsequential at the time. I'll spare you all the heart-wrenching details, but ultimately, my niece, Juliette Marie came into the world "asleep" on Saturday, April 13th. A situation no mother or father should ever have to endure.

She is not at all the type to ask for help, neither am I, but this tragedy has brought significant financial distress to her family at a time where they should be focusing on grieving, healing, and honoring the memory of their sweet baby girl.

Anything you can do is helpful and so very appreciated. Whether it be you make a donation or just share this page, my family and I would be so very grateful.

Thank you in advance.

Lauren
