Stand with Paulina Rico Moreno in Her Fight

I’m reaching out to ask for support for someone very special—Paulina Rico Moreno, a dedicated member of the maintenance staff at Grand Oaks High School in Conroe ISD. Paulina has been faithfully serving the entire campus for years, and I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know her through her work in the art wing. She is one of the most hardworking, thorough, and kind people I’ve ever met.

Recently, Paulina received difficult news: she has been diagnosed with slow-growing marginal zone lymphoma. Paulina is a single mother of two young adult children and the proud grandmother of six beautiful grandchildren. She is facing this challenge with incredible strength. While her family is rallying behind her, I hope we, as a community, can come together and show her just how much she means to us. Although Paulina plans to continue working through treatment as much as she can, she will need to take significant time off, and the medical and living expenses are already adding up.

I’m putting together this GoFundMe to help ease some of that burden. Paulina has given so much of herself to this school and community through her work, and now she needs our help. Every donation, no matter the size, will help with medical bills, treatment costs, and time away from work—and will remind Paulina she’s not alone in this fight.

Quiero pedir apoyo para alguien muy especial: Paulina Rico Moreno, una dedicada miembro del personal de mantenimiento en la Preparatoria Grand Oaks del Distrito Escolar de Conroe (Conroe ISD). Paulina ha trabajado incansablemente para servir a toda la escuela durante años, y yo he tenido el privilegio de conocerla gracias a su trabajo en el ala de arte. Es una de las personas más trabajadoras, detallistas y amables que he conocido.

Recientemente, Paulina recibió una noticia muy difícil: le han diagnosticado linfoma de la zona marginal de crecimiento lento. Paulina es madre soltera de dos hijos adultos jóvenes y orgullosa abuela de seis hermosos nietos. Está enfrentando este reto con una fuerza admirable. Aunque su familia está apoyándola con todo el corazón, quiero que como comunidad podamos unirnos y mostrarle cuánto la valoramos. Aunque Paulina tiene la intención de seguir trabajando durante su tratamiento tanto como le sea posible, necesitará tomarse un tiempo considerable, y los gastos médicos y de vida ya están aumentando.

Estoy organizando esta campaña de GoFundMe para ayudar a aliviar parte de esa carga. Paulina ha dado tanto de sí misma a esta escuela y a nuestra comunidad a través de su trabajo, y ahora necesita nuestra ayuda. Cada donación, sin importar el monto, contribuirá a cubrir sus gastos médicos, tratamientos y el tiempo que no podrá trabajar, además de recordarle que no está sola en esta lucha.
