Stand with Renee: Homestead at Risk
Donation protected
Lopez Island has lost a good soul in John Barr. John was a friend to many and the greatest love of our sweet Renee Hall and their little family of furry friends. John served the community with his lawn care business and was always ready to offer a helping hand to his friends and neighbors. A handy man who could fix most anything, he and Renee, committed vegans, also loved growing mushrooms, foraging island-wide for interesting species and sharing their knowledge with others. John was taken suddenly after an accident the week of January 18, 2025.
As if losing the love of her life isn’t hard enough, Renee is now facing the potential of a forced sale of her home and the possibility that she will have to leave the life she and John worked so hard to create.
There is an immediate need for legal support to fight off what is anticipated, as well as other expenses as she tries to figure out how to move forward. Please help us find a way to make it possible for Renee to stay on the little homestead she and John worked side by side to create.
Money raised will be given directly to Renee to help with legal fees, living expenses, and in the worst case scenario to help with relocation. We appreciate your understanding in respecting Renee’s privacy. Updates will be provided as we can.
