Stand with Rick: Overcoming Cancer Together
Donation protected
My name is Stefanie and my dad, Rick, was recently getting ready for a routine hip replacement surgery when they found something concerning on his X-rays. It turned out to be colon cancer. We’ve got a long, tough road ahead of us, but my dad could use some help.
Luckily, he is a retired Army veteran, so he has great benefits through the VA hospital; however, that doesn’t help with his household bills and his being out of work for the next few months.
If you know my dad, you know that he is one of the hardest working men around. He’s had his own trim business for as long as I’ve been alive, and he never misses a day of work if he can help it! He doesn’t know how to just stop and relax when there’s work to be done.
His biggest concern going into this is not so much the fighting cancer, as we KNOW he can get through this no matter what comes our way! His concern is financial and the fact that he won’t be able to work for an extended period of time. He is a very humble man and doesn’t want to ask for help from anyone, not even his own daughter, but after speaking with him today, he agreed to let me start a GoFundMe for him in hopes to ease some of his worry.
I know he wouldn’t ask anyone for anything, but if you do have anything you can spare, he can really use our support right now.
Having lost my mom to cancer 12 years ago, and my brother 17 years ago, my dad is my biggest concern at this time. If I can help take any stress away from him, it would help ease my mind. I know my brother is with us during this time and will be his biggest guardian angel!
If you aren’t able to contribute, please pass along prayers for us as we navigate the unknown roads ahead! This holiday season is going to be a little more challenging for our family as he goes into surgery to remove the tumor on December 16th. I will be traveling down to be with him as he’s expected to be in the hospital about a week. After that, my aunt and uncle will be tag-teaming with me to come and care for him as he will have a long road to recovery before he begins chemo and radiation.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers! I will keep everyone updated as we go along, but please don’t call him to chat about it as he is not wanting to discuss it without it being on his terms.
