Stand with the SA Victim in Her Fight for Justice

The family of Fenia Dukes is reaching out to the community regarding the sexual assault that took place during a work trip in Las Vegas, in May 2023. This incident has deeply moved us to take action, here's why:

Fenia Dukes is the former assistant to the current Mayor of Dolton and also served as the assistant to the Supervisor of Thornton Township, a dual role held by one individual. During this work trip in Vegas, Fenia went to dinner with colleagues, including the assaulter. The next day and just hours before her return flight home, she woke up in the assaulter's room with no prior knowledge of how she got there. Upon waking up, she was IMMEDIATELY shocked, dismayed and disoriented. She was also experiencing physical discomfort and discovered her belongings missing. She confided in the Mayor/Supervisor and a Dolton police officer, who was on security detail, about how she was feeling and her memory lapse, stating, "something is not right...something is not right". After returning home, she was informed of the personal violation that took place, with the aid of the Dolton police officer who provided her with details of the conversation he had with the assaulter.

In a private meeting with the Mayor/Supervisor and the Dolton police officer, Fenia recounted the incident to the Mayor/Supervisor, expecting support and justice, especially since she looked up to her as a mentor and felt she was someone whom she could trust. However, the Mayor/Supervisor's response was disheartening. Instead of taking appropriate action, Fenia was placed on involuntary unpaid medical leave (FMLA - Family Medical Leave Act), subsequently ignored by the Mayor/Supervisor, retaliated against, fired and then denied unemployment. Left in a vulnerable position, she has been struggling to find employment while facing overdue bills and providing for her dependent child.

Fenia's family aims to assist her in rebuilding her life. We recognize the unfairness and injustice she has endured. We urge the community to support her during these trying times by helping to settle her outstanding bills and move forward.

Additionally, there are reports suggesting that there may be other victims from the same assaulter. If you have any information regarding such individuals, please reach out to us.
