Stand with Saher's Family in Their Time of Need

Hi, my name is Anita and I am fundraising for Saher Al-Taban and his family that consist of 25 members currently displaced by Israel in Gaza. Everyday they are faced with unspeakable horrors, they need support from us to access food, clean water and other daily essentials. All proceeds will be sent to them via PayPal. In these profoundly challenging and dark times, I reach out to you to seek your support in aiding my family in Gaza. My brothers, cousins, and I have lost our homes and livelihoods in the area east of Deir al-Balah. We are now displaced and struggling, residing in makeshift accommodations west of Deir al-Balah.

My brother Samer, who has two young children, lost his job as a taxi driver due to the war. His children, once surrounded by comfort and familiarity, are now exposed to the harsh cold, having lost their home, toys, clothing, and cherished memories.

I, too, have endured significant loss. I have been deprived of the home I labored for over 30 years and where I had hoped to marry last November. Additionally, I have lost my shoe store, which was the primary source of income for my family.

Our young relatives—nephews and cousins aged 5, 2, 6, 7, 6, 10, 12, and 9—are without shelter, stability, or a future. They are enduring dire conditions with limited access to food, clean water, and basic sanitation facilities.

My name is Saher Al-Taban from Gaza. I am turning to you during these severe times to request your generous support to aid my brothers, cousins, and their children, who are in desperate need of assistance.

Our goal is to provide essential support to these families as they rebuild their lives following the war. Every donation, regardless of size, will significantly improve the living conditions for these individuals whose lives and futures have been profoundly impacted by the conflict.

Despite the overwhelming losses, we cling to hope and strive to plan for a better future. We believe in the importance of working towards a brighter tomorrow for our children, who are too young to face homelessness.

What Your Support Will Fund:

We seek to support two families—one of 12 and one of 13—totaling 25 people. The funds will be used to meet their daily needs and to assist with rebuilding efforts once the war subsides. Given the devastation of infrastructure and the unpredictable duration of the conflict, any surplus funds will be allocated for potential evacuation needs, prioritizing the safety of the children.

Before the war, a family of five required around $2,000 per month for rent, food, water, and transportation. The war has drastically increased the cost of essentials. For instance, the price of flour has surged from $10 to $110 per bag, and potatoes have risen from $1 to $18 per kilogram. Consequently, the estimated monthly living cost for a family of five during the war is approximately $5,000.

We project that $2,000 of this amount will be allocated to rent, while $3,000 will cover basic commodities. For 25 people, our goal is to raise $300,000 to support these families for one year, with an initial target of $45,000 to assist seven families.

Fresh Beef: Increased from $13 to $67.50 per kilo.

Frozen Chicken: Rose from $3 to $21 per kilo.

Frozen Fish: Climbed from $4 to $20 per kilo.

Vegetables: Went up from $1 to approximately $8 per kilo.

Fruits: Increased from $1.50 to $9 per kilo.

Water: Jumped from $6.50 per cup to $54.

Hair and Body Shampoo: Soared from $3 to $40.50.

Soap: Risen from $1 to $13.50.

Rice: Escalated from $1.50 to $19 per kilo.

Flour: Spiked from $11 to $110 per kilo.

Women’s Cotton Products: Increased from $1 to $7.

Scented Paper: Rose from $0.50 to $7.

Tissues and Toilet Paper: Went up from $1 to $9.

Medical Treatment: Costs have increased fivefold.

Daily Necessities: Overall, prices have surged tenfold.

Firewood: Risen from $0.10 to $1.20 per kilo.

Clothes: Increased from $8 to $16.

Shoes: Rose from $7 to $67.

Underwear: Increased from $2 to $8 per piece.

Baby Diapers: Jumped from $7 to $54.

Canned food remains at its pre-war price due to aid supplies.
