Stand with Santi in His Fight Against Liver Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ackhadet and I am fundraising for my cousin Santi. More than forty years ago at the end of the Vietnam War, we embarked on a journey as children, leaving behind our homeland of Laos to seek refuge at a refugee camp in Nong Khai, Thailand before coming to America. Today, our journey takes another unexpected turn. In March 2024, my best friend and cousin, Santi was diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver cancer. The 10cm cancerous mass is situated on his Portal Vein, so surgery to remove the mass is too risky, and a liver transplant is beyond reach.
Yet, Santi’s spirit remains unyielding. His hope now lies in an innovative immunotherapy. The simple joys, like the warmth of home-cooked Lao meals, have become treasures harder to grasp amidst the trials of his condition.
Santi’s life has been a tapestry of devotion—woven as a dedicated staff with the local school district, compassionate son, a tender brother, a nurturing uncle, and a loving father to his two daughters, aged 13 and 15. He is the heart of our family, the cherished friend and cousin whose generosity has touched many lives. Now, it is our turn to wrap Santi in the same kindness he has always extended.
The diagnosis has created mounting medical expenses for his family because of multiple ER/urgent care visits, hospitalizations, immunotherapy, and home health services to manage his complicated symptoms. We invite friends, family, and the community to join us in supporting Santi through this challenging time. Your contributions will allows us to cherish every moment with him, free from the anchors of financial worry.
We are deeply grateful for any gesture of support during this time. Your generosity is a beacon of hope during this difficult time for Santi and his family.
Kop chai lai lai. Huk pang. Thank you very much and Much love.
*All contributions will go to Santi's care that is being managed by his sister, Savanmaly "Molly" Shovlin.
